I’ve been using WordPress to log all recordings at work, since ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems allows digital recordings since its 2008 release.
One of the aspects where it currently is lacking is the policies for data conservations.
You name it: backups.
Actually it hasn’t been a real issue for quite a long time, since most of recording used to be generated… ehrm, on paper.
Yes, on paper. Handling data on paper may have several drawbacks but have a real advantage: it’s far easier to store it securely. You just have to ensure that the office doesn’t catch fire or get flooded.
Ok, it’s not as easy as it seems but paper is a little more widespread and understood by plain, non-tech people and employees.
So our QMS, having been started more than twenty years ago still “thinks in term of paper”.
Time has come to really turn it into something digital.
As I’ve learned lately backup procedures must be operative before a service goes live, otherwise it’s only a matter of when you will be in dire situations.
