Ultrabook Katana
Reading the pages of DUCC-IT 2017 speakers I discovered this:
Ultrabook Katana EN – SLIMBOOK Ultrabook, laptops, computers
With the notable exception of the CPU (6th generation versus 7th) it’s almost like the Dell XPS. So now I’m officially torn and I don’t know what to choose:
- the “mainstream” company, so they will keep supporting GNU/Linux and other OS Liberi or
- the small, European company that supports GNU/Linux as its core business?
For me everything started with Geek Gadgets Version 2 – Amiga Developers Environment : Fred Fish

Anbox – Android in a Box
Anbox – Android in a Box
Anbox puts the Android operating system into a container, abstracts hardware access and integrates core system services into a GNU/Linux system. Every Android application will behave integrated into your operating system like any other native application.

X2Go, remote desktop faster than VNC
Sometimes VNC feels too slow, expecially other slow links.
Enters X2Go – everywhere@home!
X2Go enables you to access a graphical desktop of a computer over a low bandwidth (or high bandwidth) connection.X2Go is a Remote Desktop solution, which some vendors vaguely call Remote Control. This is not to be confused with Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection, which is a competing Remote Desktop solution and protocol.
Let’s chat!
I’ve been lingering on OTFC #debian-it IRC channel and the almighty Elena of Valhalla made me discover the importance of maintain control over our communications that nowasdays are oftn channeled into various chat, social network and the like.
So I’ve read her article «Modern XMPP Server» and Enrico Zini’s «Modern and secure instant messaging» discovering several interesting softwares like:
- Prosody IM – Jabber/XMPP server
- Conversations is a really nice, actively developed, up to date XMPP client for Android
I also discovered Gruppo Linux Como Figli orgogliosi del pinguino 😉 (and their identi.ca account Friendica social networ)
IpSec VPN “wizard”
https://github.com/trailofbits/algo
A reasonable sane, secure IpSec-based VPN that doesn’t need additional software on the client.
