How does pears.com<\/a>, p2panda<\/a> and libp2p<\/a> compare?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I found pears a couple of days ago, when a fellow hacker from POuL<\/a> highlighted me https:\/\/keet.io<\/a>, a peer to peer chat application. They promise <\/p>\n\n\n\n

No middlemen, no metadata, no surveillance, just direct encrypted chats with people you trust.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Nice try dudes. Too bad Keet is proprietary software<\/strong>. And I know for sure that proprietary software can’t be trusted at all<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Actually they do use a free-as-in-freedom, non copyleft library pears.com<\/a>1<\/a><\/sup> maintained by themselves, i.e. Holepunch<\/a>, “The Peer to Peer Company”, but this will never be enough to let me trust a proprietary program is such sensitive field of applications. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I do know just a little libp2p and p2panda. I just wonder what this apparent flourishing of p2p stacks can means for the freedom of people.<\/p>\n\n\n
