Windows Subsystem for Linux<\/b> (WSL<\/b>) is a compatibility layer<\/a> for running Linux<\/a>binary executables<\/a> (in ELF<\/a> format) natively on Windows 10<\/a>. Microsoft<\/a> and Canonical<\/a> partnered together to enable a genuine Ubuntu<\/a>Trusty Tahr<\/a> image to be downloaded and extracted to the user’s local machine, and for the tools and utilities contained within that image to run natively on top of the WSL.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Some people may say that we’re at step four:<\/p>\n

  1. First they ignore you,<\/li>\n
  2. Then they laugh at you,<\/li>\n
  3. Then they fight you,<\/li>\n
  4. Then you win.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    I’m not that sure. The once-dark-knight doesn’t look that dangerous these days. The evil overlord is now another.<\/p>\n

    Yet I think that that’s not a real victory. Victory is having MacOsX and Windows released as free-as-in-freedom software.<\/p>\n

    That’s instead a subtle way to fight us back, now that it seems that free-as-in-freedom software are nowadays too strong to be beaten down with sheer force.<\/p>\n

    No, we’re not at step four. We’re still at step three and the enemies of freedom of people are trying to trick us to think that we’re past step four. And they’ve moved\u00a0 to DRM.<\/p>\n

    They want to make freedom irrelevant, like allowing to Run Ubuntu Linux Binaries on Windows 10<\/a>. (Not April Fool\u2019s Joke).<\/p>\n
