Today I came to https://github.com/phcode-dev/phoenix:
Phoenix is a modern open-source Code Editor for the web, built for the browser. phcode.io
I thought it was the usual corporate approach to “open-source”, since it comes from Adobe, a corporation notorious for its “nice” behaviour toward people freedoms.
I was quite positively shocked to discover they released it under the Affero General Public License 3.0, the licence that protects the user the most!
Ok, ok, they don’t get a dime from it, so from their point of view the AGPL allows them to tap to changes that competitors will make, in the spirit of collaboration, letting them leverage eventual contributions from competitors.
But nevertheless I shall praise them for once! Well done Adobe!
