Keep cooling

I was looking for a way to keep cool my Fairphone 2 while avoiding to depress its performances when I found “The best way to keep your cool running a Raspberry Pi 4″ by Jeff Geerling.

Good to know! 😃

Why on the earth one would have to think about keeping a smartphone cool? Various, I dare say:

  1. One would like to use it on a summer beach. When the environment temperature is more than 33⁰C the less the heat the better
  2. The AOSP (Android Open Source Project) I use is not optimized for my phone, so the CPU gets hot (80⁰C under load, the case gets so hot that one want to place it on a cool surface). Or I shall update the firmware but I fear to brick it. After I freed my Xiaomi Rednote T8 I’ll try to load LineageOs or /e/ on my Fairphone (remember you can buy a Fairphone 3 or other phones with /e/ preinstalled!)

LineageOS on Rednote 8T

Recently I bought a Xiami Rednote 8T. I was in dire need of something capable of running CamOnLive at Full HD and being in full lockdown it was the only choice available.

I actually used it for quite a while as an IP camera but that’s another story.

What it is important now is that I want to install Lineage OS. Well, actually I would rather install /e/ the privacy friendly OS, but be kind on me, I’ll take one step at a time, recompiling it all is just too much for my few spare time.

According to the Duck, there are plenty of guides on how to install it. Here’s one

I bought a RedMi Note 8T in the middle of lockdown. It was one of the few available and I needed it to use as camera to livestream Holy Masses. I hadn’t much choice even if I wanted to avoid Chinese communist dictatorship as much as possible. Communism is intrinsically evil.

Now I can fully deGoogle it. The great G holds too much data and too much power over too much people. It’s easy to become evil with too much power.

SuperTuxKart

SuperTuxKart

SuperTuxKart is a 3D open-source arcade racer with a variety characters, tracks, and modes to play.

It’s a beautiful game, with a little glitch: to join a multiplayer you have to push the “Select” button which usually is the “Fire” or space on a keyboard. Well, on Android… where is the “Select” button?

Of course, there’s no “select”. You must use a gamepad to play SuperTuxKart multiplayer on Android.

At least until version 1.0

I’m downloading version 1.1 right now, I’ll let you know if it does change anything…
