Another reason

Everyday I keep finding reasons to avoid Apple products. Why? Because they consider their clients like sub-humans that must be kept stupid and shackled.

“Pseudo browsers like Chrome, Edge, and FireFox on iOS also do not support any progressive web app functionality on iOS. These browsers use the webview to render pages and not their own engines. So, for now, they are also limited.”

That’s what I read in “Progressive Web Application Development by Example” by Chris Love from Packt Publishing.

From from I understand it seems that the owner of an iPhone cannot install a “proper browser” in iOS. Apple forbids the rightful owner to use its own device as he likes, more specifically they forbid to install a browser that implements its own rendering engine.

I think I will never buy such devices: I want to have full control on my own devices.

For sure I will keep explaing this deficiencies and telling people to avoid Apple’s products.

Not as freedom…

I’ve been designing concrete mixes for almost 20 years and I’ve always used spreadsheets. Seeing those frees for a “free product” Free Concrete Mix Design Software | Concrete Quality make me think that we do actually need one which is free-as-in-freedom

The Concrete Quality software is free” Free to use, pay only for additional services, no minimum subscription time. Starting at 35 € (~39 USD) per month.

Udilla

Here’s How Google Knows in Less Than 5 Minutes if Someone Is a Great Leader | Inc.com

I may find they may be useful also in my SME work

Here are Google’s leadership evaluation questions:

  1. My manager gives me actionable feedback that helps me improve my performance.
  2. My manager does not “micromanage” (get involved in details that should be handled at other levels).
  3. My manager shows consideration for me as a person.
  4. The actions of my manager show that he/she values the perspective I bring to the team, even if it is different from his/her own.
  5. My manager keeps the team focused on our priority results/deliverables.
  6. My manager regularly shares relevant information from his/her manager and senior leaders.
  7. My manager has had a meaningful discussion with me about career development in the past six months.
  8. My manager communicates clear goals for our team.
  9. My manager has the technical expertise (e.g., coding in Tech, selling in Global Business, accounting in Finance) required to effectively manage me.
  10. I would recommend my manager to other Googlers.
  11. I am satisfied with my manager’s overall performance as a manager.

Then Google employees are asked to complete two other questions:

12. What would you recommend your manager keep doing?

13. What would you have your manager change?

Notice that only one question, No. 9, asks employees to rate their manager’s hard skills.
