HP Outrages Printer Users With Firmware Update Suddenly Bricking Third-Party Ink – Slashdot
Dear HP, I’ve been a loyal customer but when reading such news I doubt I will want to buy another HP device. Let’s keep supporting Linux and other free-as-freedom operative systems and I will keep supporting you
Wonderful, an open source and secure network device maker!

I just wish they also make NAS!
Ox64 – a sub $10 Linux capable single board computer from Pine64 people. For 8$ you get 3 RISC-V cores: 64-bit, 32-bit and low power core, plus 64Mb of RAM.
That’s interesting!
Nice TrueNAS Mini | Enterprise-grade Storage for the Home or Office but I would rather have something less energy hungry. And somehow less costly.
If only the Qnap TS-431K would be “Debian-friendly”…
Wonderful piece of hardware but I would act like a spoiled child if I gave in to the temptation to buy it

Well, it’s not exactly on par on Apple M1, but this machine fills an entirely different niche.
A few days ago I bought inks for my HP Color LaserJet Pro M377dw. They were quite costly, so I looked around other manufacturers that in the past were Linux-friendly. I ended up on an Epson multifunction printer that seems as good as mine but with inks that cost by far a lot less:
EcoTank ET-5170 | Epson Italia
The only issue is that they cite the usual proprietary operative systems.
Can I assume that given that MacOS uses CUPS the very same printing of Linux any printer labelled as MacOS X compatible will work with Linux? Has the promise of Driverless Printing being fulfilled? Last time I tried the answer was a big yes, but I would like to be sure.
“Mac Studio is 4x more efficient than my new AMD PC” wrote Jeff Geerling
Ok, but the Mac Studio “is only slightly more expensive”.
“Only” more than four times the cost.
With the money I save I could run the “hot and inefficient” AMD machine for more than four years at full steam.
The cheapest MAC pro is 2349€. He’s comparing it to a AMD Ryzen 5 5600x PC build. I can find one for 549€ on Next. Ok, it has only 8Gb, the Mac 32. But switching the Pc to 16gb costs only 39€.
So nice hardware dear Apple, I will stick to AMD for now.

Non li conoscevo! Peccato non propongano Linux preinstallato, sarebbero diventati il mio produttore di fiducia!
Sperando non facciano la fine della Stonex…
