Usare GParted su SSH
Della serie in inglese c’è tutto, in italiano minga tropp, vediamo di spiegare come avviare GParted su una connessione SSH. Su Ask Ubuntu c’è un bello scambio che spiega tutto. In inglese ovviously.
Sul perché uno vorrebbe fare una cosa del genere c’è una comoda spiegazione: la fifa blu di brasare tutto usando fdisk su una macchina remota. In produzione, per giunta. Ossia quando non puoi permetterti di brasare nulla e non hai la possibilità di mettere fuori linea il servizio. Nel mio caso la macchina che fa da archivio IMAP e WebDAV iniziava ad essere “pienotta” e volevo aumentare la dimensione del disco di quella macchina virtuale.
Una volta scoperto il trucco è semplice. È semplice come lanciare “sudo -E gparted“, ossia che vuoi preservare le variabili d’ambiente, comprese quelle che dicono alle applicazioni dove avviare le finestre.
Tutto semplice, fin tanto che ti colleghi con qualcosa come ssh -X miohost.miodominio ed hai attivato l’inoltro di X11 (X11Forwarding yes) in /etc/ssh/sshd_config sulla macchina di destinazione.
