dpkg – How to install Scratch 2 on Ubuntu 16.10. or 17.04 (64bit)? – Ask Ubuntu

Today my daughter asked me to install Scratch.

But not the tablet. I already did it. On the computer. I tought it was a breeze.

Actually it was as simple as “sudo apt install scratch“. Too bad I got an oldish 1.4 version and her book refers to version 2.0.

To make a long story short, they relied on the piece of rotting proprietary software known as “Adobe AIR”.

There are several guides on how to install it on Linux too, but the one I found to actually work is in a comment of

which works also on Debian.

Sorgente: Facebook Petitioned To Change License For ReactJS – Slashdot

I started to begin to suspect that ReactJs license is not compatible with GPL and other free-as-in-freedom software licenses. It looks like a Trojan horse to me, trying to undermine Free Software nastily using patents in a clever way.

Patents on software shouldn’t be conceded

So let’s see:

  • Proprietary
  • Requiring a version of Android I don’t have. And my phone is “only” 3 years old.
  • Not usable in any other mean, at least it’s not stated on the website.
  • Not FAQ.

All in all, that’s the usual, faulty bureaucratic mess.

Hellish

Hell must be full of Microsoft servers that must be administered and reinstalled over and over again.

I thought of being non proficient in Ms administration since I tried for two full days to install SQL server 2008 on a freshly installed Windows server 2008. I discovered that a whole-life all-Microsoft professional is no better than me.

I used the install media of the Ms Os and of the sql server that come originally together back in 2009, both labelled december 2008.
The os was “service pack 1”. SQL server require service pack 2. And a fully updated one too. This machine has been busy updating that SharePoint for more that 18 hours.

I truly cannot understand why on earth someone can willingfully desire to use such crap.

I wouldn’t impose Ms on my worst enemy
