HWE Hardware Enablement???

Yesterday my old and once-powerful laptop told me it felt abandoned. Today is the turn of the netbook:

My aging Ubuntu-branded Eeepc

Your Hardware Enablement Stack (HWE) is supported until April 2019.

So search for it and find this «Ubuntu: HWE Hardware Enablement Stacks, LTS, and the Kernel – Fabian Lee : Software Architect».

Ok, ok. They’re aging but they still are good for some random hacking during holidays, aren’t they?

Or is it really time to buy an Ultrabook Katana (or something more recent) from slimbook.es?

But what to do with perfectly working yet aging old hardware? I hate to thrash them. I think I won’t do a good service to the Free-as-in-freedom community if I give to a charity: they would think GNU/Linux is slowish.
